First Blog Anniversary - Featuring Adolfo Sanchez.

Hello Everyone.

This month on 23rd October was the blog anniversary of Stilettos Diary. I couldn't manage to get the post out but I am finally back. A special treat this week.

I am wearing..

Cobri dress - Courtesy Adolfo Sanchez (BUY HERE!)

Leather jacket - Forever 21 (gift)
ALDO Rose Gold Watch - courtesy Majorbrands.in [BUY HERE]
Sunglasses - Courtesy Firmoo.com [BUY HERE]
Celine Inspired Bag - Stilettos Diary Shop [BUY HERE!]
Zara Inspired Clutch - DIY (Click Here!)
Jewellery - Stilettos Diary Shop [BUY HERE!]
Heels - Steve Madden Dynamite. (My birthday gift to myself! Bought it during end of season sale at 50% off)
On my lips - Maybelline Watershine Pure
On my nails - Maybelline Colorama
On my eyes - Bourjois Paris Eyeliner.
On my lips - Coco Rouge by Chanel

Firstly I would like to thank Adolfo Sanchez for sending me a wonderful blog anniversary gift. I absolutely love this dress. Little black dress (LBD) is one of the most crucial wardrobe staples a woman can have in her closet. It is a savior at the time of need especially when you put on a little bit of weight and want to cover the flab.

In this blog post, I have shown how I would transition the LBD from morning to night without much hassles. For a simple day outfit, I paired the dress with my leather jacket, tote bag and sunglasses. Outfit is perfect for shopping, catching up with friends for lunch. Second look is a simple outfit perfect for a date, simple family dinner or night out with friends. I paired the Cobri Dress with DIY Zara clutch, some gold accessories and black Steve madden heels (Every year I gift myself the designer item from my wishlist. It's a strange ritual I follow :) ). I went for a monotone black look. It not only makes you look taller but also makes you look slimmer. The colorful clutch infuses the right amount of color needed to brighten the outfit and I completed the look with gold accessories.

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes as well as get well soon wishes. It means a lot. I definitely would like to know what you think about the styling. I shall wait for all your emails and comments.

Fry in great deals on Pepperfry.com

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I couldn't put with the anniversary blogpost. The road to recovery is still a long way for me. Nevertheless I wanted to share with you about a great new shopping website which has rippled through e-commerce domain and creating a sensation for all shopaholics like us.

I have always been a huge fan of Pepperfry.com. I recently picked up amazing accessories from Pepperfry.com during a discount sale. Best part about Pepperfry.com are the deals and offers that are sent to your email inbox each day. I subscribed to there email updates and each day I get coupon codes and news of items on sale. I patiently wait every morning (like a hungry prey waiting to get its early morning prize) to get the updates, after which I reel in on my catch (loads of goodies) in my shopping cart. Alias! great buys, great discounts and great happiness.

This necklace is one of my purchases from Pepperfry.com. Not only can I wear it with western outfits, but it also adds a great zing to traditional outfits. I have donned this necklace on several occasions and every time it guarantees zillion head turns and questions where I picked the necklace from. If you are looking to build a classic wardrobe were each item is an investment, then Pepperfry.com is a great place to start looking for must have pieces for your wardrobe.

Check out how I have styled the necklace in a very non-traditional way here. (CLICK HERE!)

I also picked up this leopard print sunglasses from Pepperfry.com
. These sunglasses cost me just Rs.500 during a promotional sale. The website is user-friendly and shipping speed is very fast. I got my order in a span of 2-3 days. Great website to splurge for statement/ must have items and the best part a happy shopping experience which doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. The quality of the products is something worth mentioning. It is as shown in the photos so you can shop without any fear.

Stilettos Diary presents Lotus Mendes "Magical Jewels".

Hello Everyone.
You all know about the current giveaway happening. Today I would like to official introduce Lotus Mendes Jewels and the lovely Victoria Cheatham.

Victoria Cheatham self taught jewelry designer is the creative genius behind Lotus Mendes. Her collection is an eclectic fusion of rawness, anarchy, opposites, symbolic messages and a mixture of new generation and tradition. I got to know Victoria up close and personal. This is what she had to say...

1. Where did you start selling your jewelry? What was the response like?

I have been creating and designing precious jewels for over 12 years for myself and for friends. It all started as I never wanted to be seen in the same piece as anyone else. I wanted and craved uniqueness and individualism so I would sit in my studio for hours creating and designing. As I created more and more pieces I knew it was time I started to actually make money from what I did so I started to sell my jewelry at Bondi Markets about 5 years ago. The response to my pieces was always different – some people loved what I did and some people did not get it – but for me to create jewelry it was like there was a force that was inside if me that I could not stop. It was about making women feel and look amazing – that if they understood the magical element of jewelry they would understand the power it could unleash within them. I use my body as a blank canvas and my jewelry is like my oil paint, each day I paint a different picture using my jewels.

2. What makes your artistic style different?

My style all comes from within. My style personifies my emotions and my feelings. Every piece I create has a meaning which I pass on to the wearer. My style is more about portraying a message to the wearer about understanding life itself and how adorning yourself with precious jewelry it can have such a positive effect on your own being. I believe that jewelry is magical and I create pieces that “speak without saying a word”.

3.What’s your favourite thing you have created so far?

That would have to the Powerful Goddess Ring. I have now released it in 14 colours and this is just the beginning. My plan is to have every shade of colour in the whole world within 5 years so if you are searching for a colour for your outfit and you cannot find it anywhere you will definitely be able to find it at Lotus Mendes.

4.What motivates you to do what you do?

I have an amazing support system around me which helps incredibly, but Its like I have a force inside of me that just makes me create and design. I have no choice really as I am creating even when I sleep. There is this underlying force and want to be able to make every woman feel powerful, strong, beautiful and believe she can do anything she wants that ultimately motivates me the most. To know I have had a positive effect on someone is the reason I create. It’s the best feeling ever and really gives me a purpose.

5.What are your greatest inspirations?

Life! Life is the greatest inspiration of all. Being alive, having a wonderful husband and family and knowing I can make a difference through my creativity. Everyday I am inspired by what I see, feel and believe. Through these emotions I then create pieces that mirror what I feel, believe and want to teach.

6.What projects are you currently working on?

I am now working on my next range which is so exciting! I just can’t wait to see my samples! I visualize them everyday. This is the best part when you really visualize a design then see it come to fruition is an amazing feeling! There are also a number of other projects going on but don’t want to say too much!

Firstly I should say those Goddess rings are a must have in your wardrobe. Her first collection I saw imprints from skulls, hearts, stars, angels, frogs and warrior swords to Egyptian influences of Queen Nefertiti, King Tutankhamen and vultures. I was mesmerized by Victoria's creativity. Something that caught my attention is each of her jewels have a symbolic message. The star ring symbolizes the 5 acts of Lotus Mendes with its five ray points and has a message for its wearer to “Reach For The Stars”, other symbolic pieces include the Warrior Sword Earrings with “Unleash The Warrior Within”, a chess piece ring with “Every Move Counts” and a love heart ring with “It’s All About The Love” inscribed on the shank. These symbolic images will always be present in each Lotus Mendes collection, as their meanings have created the foundations of the label, where her pieces can “speak without saying a word.”

I can't wait for her next collection! Here's a sneak peek of her upcoming collection.

Loads of love,

Featured on pose.com and whopping 15,000 Followers!!

Hey Guys.

Just woke to a lovely surprise today. One of my poses has been featured on pose.com style quiz!

That's not enough I saw an whopping 15,000 followers following my poses on pose.com. Thank you so much for all the support guys.

Pose had previous featured me as a Stylish Maven along with Rachel Zoe, Man Repeller , Street Pepper Phil, Blair Fowler and Elle Fowler ( Glambitious Fashionista). I am the first and only Indian Fashion blogger to be featured till date. ( Extremely honored and humbled - I was super excited when Alicia sent me an email saying she loved my work and blog and wanted to feature me as a poser.)

Thanks a lot for all the support. Nice to know hard work is appreciated.

Little more about pose.com

Pose is a free app that lets you share and discover inspiring styles from around the world. Pose.com/ blog feature some of favorite styles from the app, the streets and beyond.

Join Pose on Android or iOS today. Are you on pose yet??

Thanks a lot pose.com

On a Personal Note:

I know other blogger has reached places in very short time by I follow you and you follow back (But honestly I would like to know in your conscious you know they are not there for your work but for the follow) and get loads of fake comments. I don't care about the followers/ comments one bit its about work and ideas plagiarism which I am bothered about.

It's sad to see people plagiarize work. Plus stealing your creative ideas and hard work without giving credit.I work 12 hours in office come back and then work an hour on my blog. When your efforts has been copied without giving credit shows the lack of respect for others work. I definitely don't have respect for such people. A person is measured by his/her good work. It does sadden me and I am human after all. (Wouldn't you be? End of the day all of us want to do good and unique work).

Of late its been bugging me a lot but then again a good friend of mine told me to see the bright side. Only reason its happening because Vignesh and me are doing good work.So if you come across a similar blog don't be shocked (lol! :) good that I got it out of my system.. feels better.)

I read this lovely quote "Dangerous consequences will follow when people forget moral principles. Whether we believe in God or karma, ethics is the foundation of every religion".

It's good to know people who appreciate your work. So thank for all the 15,000 plus followers for following my poses. (Means a lot.)

Loads of love,

Color Mania.

Hello Everyone.

Time for Wardrobe Wednesday. This week's inspiration is color block. I have added a retro touch to the entire outfit with the green aviators.

I am wearing

Top : Lifestyle
Skirt : Lifestyle (Splash collection as seen in Yellow Summer).
Chain : Made by me (as seen in Bling Cat)
Heels : Catwalk (as seen in Metallic Mayhem, Black, white and Metallic me)
Bag : crunchyfashion.com
Watch and Sunglasses : Fastrack

The colorblock trend was seen on both the Spring and Fall runways. From Mercedes Benz fashion week to Wills India Lifestyle Fashion week, color block trend is back on the ramp. Few tips to remember while you color block and how you can incorporate it into your wardrobe.

1. Have at least two 2 colors and ensure you do not exceed 4 colors. (I chose 4 colors)

2. Block Solid colors. Do not block colored prints and multiple stripes.

3. Understand your body type. Larger men and women may not want to do any blocking with bright colors around the mid section.

4. Don't wear a color-block print with more darkness/lightness difference than naturally occurs between your hair, skin and eyes. For example, bold blocks of cobalt blue and lime green will be overwhelming if you have pale skin and hair. .

5. Color-block prints by typically break up or visually fracture the elongating and lean line solids given to a figure. If you are petite, be cautious of further shorten your look

6. Pick colors in similar shades-- i.e. don't mix pastels with brights.

7. Avoid excessive accessories when you are color blocking.

8. Want a low-risk way of trying the trend? Wear a pair of color-block shoes, slip on a few bracelets or carry a handbag in the motif with a simple plain outfit.

Here are my few favorite color block outfits. Hopefully it will help in inspiring you in trying color blocking.

Few notes from Devner post and photo courtesy Fabsugar.

Hope these tips will help you in styling better. If you have any query while trying color blocking or any questions regarding the same, drop me an email megha8709@gmail.com or leave a comment here.

Loads of love,

Blue Night Falls.

Hello everyone.

Time for Wardrobe Wednesday.

I am wearing

Blue night fall top and skirt - Courtesy Ashley Zaba
Chain : Aldo (gift) as seen in Leopard Love (worn as earrings)
Bracelet: Yebhi.com
Heels : Catwalk (got during 50% sale for 799 Rs).
Envelope Bag : crunchyfashion.com as seen in Leopard Love.
Makeup :M.A.C/ Maybelline. (I am wearing Watershine pure Maybelline lipstick and Revlon shimmer gloss).
Eyeliner - Maybelline color mix eye pencil (blue & green).

Today I would like to introduce a very talented fashion designer - Ashley Zaba. Contemporary and innovative fashion label Ashley Zaba is stylish, chic, unique and colorful.

Ashley Zaba label was founded in 2008. Since the conception Ashley Zaba has participated in various fashion shows in and around Ontario. Her label expanded to USA within a year of conception.

I am extremely honored (must say very lucky as well) to introduce Ashley Zaba and her creations to India. I asked her few questions about her, her inspiration and how her label originated and evolved. This is what she had to say...

1. Your where do you get your inspiration from and how you interpret it to your lovely design?

A lot of my inspirations come from countries or cities that I have travelled to, both literal or interpreted through books/tv/internet. The latest collection for spring summer 2012 was inspired from my travels at the start of 2011 to Colombia to visit a friend. I love the freedom travel gives you to go out of your confort zone and experience something new and thats what I want to convey through my designs.

2. In your earlier years, how did you decide that you eventually wanted to become a designer?

My mother was very inspriating in my earlier years (and still is now!), she is an avid artist, with painting, drawing and when my sister I am were small she would sew our skating or dance costumes. Into my teens going through school I excelled in art and fashion and with my love of designing and sewing I went on to pursuing an education in Fashion Design, at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario

3. Who is your inspiration?

I do not have one set inspiration, I feel everyday I am seeing something new and fresh that is pulling me in different ways. A fasination of mine right now are aerial country photos in this book my sister gave me called Earth from Above 365 Days by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

4. Does the preparation of a season's collection take time?

The preparation of a collection does take time. I start with a concept board, similar to anything you see on polyvore or pinterest with all the photos/colour stories/fabrics anything at all really!! From there I search for fabrics and trims and anything else that will inspire my choices once I start sketching the designs. As soon as I have a clear direction in concept and textiles I will go into sketching lots of different designs until I can select my final edits. From there I will go into production, and because I am an emerging designer I sew all the samples for the various photoshoots as well as my sales rep. I would ideally love 4 months to work solely on the next season but I am always thinking ahead!

5. How do you intend women to feel when wearing Ashley Zaba labeled clothing?

I would expect a women wearing Ashley Zaba would feel unique, modern, strong and wants to stand out in front of the crowd in the bright bold colours that are my aesthetic.

6. What do you have to say to the next generation, particularly for those hoping to follow in your footsteps?

Advice for designers who are starting out: strength, determination and a good support system are key factors.
It’s a gradual build, we all have to start out somewhere; I wouldn’t be here today without of the support of others. All the positive feedback and my clients make the struggle a lot easier and realistic. In this business you have to have the drive, I’m a big believer in that, you have to want this business; the limitations only make you want it more!!

7. One celebrity whom you would love to design an outfit.

Michelle Williams - I am a big fan of her movies and she always seems to look edgy/quirky and elegant at the same time no matter what high/low designer she is wearing.

8. ____________________________ ?? ( Wondering why it is blank?)

Well Ashley has agreed to answer any question you guys want to ask her. I got a chance to get to know her on a personal level. She is not only a talented designer but a great friend.
