Black, Beige and Neon.

Hello Everyone!

This week the post is inspired by the DIY project I did. Black, beige and neon is a classic combination.

I am wearing
Skirt: Vero Moda (I picked up this skirt for my birthday)
Shirt: Van Heusen (Bought it way back in 2009)
Heels: Portia (Picked it up in 99labels during sale for 600 Rs)
Neon Necklaces and Bracelets : Made by me (CLICK HERE FOR DIY POST!!)
On my nails: Maybelline Colorama (Laranja Citrico)
On my lips: Coco Rouge - Chanel (Shade 39)

Well a short post this week because I am suffering from severe migraine. Black, beige and Neon is my all-time favorite color combination. We have seen so many celebs rock this combination on the red carpet.

Only regret about this outfit is I wish I had worn a chiffon black shirt to avoid the wrinkle effect created by the shirt which I quite dint realize till I saw the photos. This is my formal shirt which I usually wear to office.(Now I am reusing and mixing my office wardrobe and causal wardrobe as well). Neon accessories are great way to infuse neon into your outfit if you don't like wearing bright colors. You can make these neon accessories at home at pocket friendly cost. (CLICK HERE FOR DIY POST!!)

My quest to achieve a Classic Wardrobe continues. The Vero Moda skirt is an amazing investment. I have styled it in so many ways already. You can wear it with a neon shirt (Like I did on my birthday; photos coming soon) or with polka shirt (you can mix different patterns) or a simple sleeveless chiffon mint top. The options are endless. Stock a beige color heels. You can wear it to office as well as causal outings with friends. A neutral color heel is a must have.

Having said that,I would like to thank all of you for helping me cross more than 1,00,000 HITS!!, 40,000 FOLLOWERS ON POSE.COM, 1500 ODD FACEBOOK LIKES. Thank you so much. :) :)

Loads of love,

DIY Neon Necklaces and Bracelets

Hello Everyone!

I am back with another DIY post. I needed break from florals. The third part of the styling shall be posted soon. This week post is DIY Neon necklaces and bracelets.

Items Required:

1. Rhinestone Necklace and bracelets. (I picked it up from a local store. Each bracelet cost me 10 Rs and the necklace cost me 80 Rs.)
2. Fabric Neon Paints. (I did not find neon spray paints anywhere in Bangalore so I substituted it with Faber Castell neon fabric paints. It is a pack of four neon colors. It cost me 48 Rs).
3. Thin Brush.

How to make neon bracelets and necklaces:

1. Paint the rhinestone bracelet or chain (as Shown in third photo). Ensure the paint is diluted. This gives the bracelet a tinge of neon.
2. If you want to darker toned neon bracelets then repaint the bracelet. This time ensure its not diluted. Only repaint after the first coating dries to avoid the mess.
3. If required you can add a coat of varnish.

VOILA! Your neon bracelets are ready. Repeat the same process for the necklace. Stack these neon bracelets with a few rhinestone bracelets like I have. What do you think of this idea? Plus the above photo(me donning the neon necklace and bracelets) is sneak peek of this week's post.

Loads of love,

Floral Dress - 3 ways (Part II)

Hello Everyone!

Have you ever thought of rocking your floral dress to office? If not hopefully today's post will inspire you to.

I am wearing..

Floral Dress (as a shirt) - Courtesy Dressshop.in (BUY HERE!!)
Beige Formal Skirt- Wills Lifestyle Outlet (Bought during 50% sale for 750 Rs)
Bag - La BELLE -(Bought during sale on Yebhi.com for 565 Rs)
Accessories (Ring and Earrings)- Stilettos Diary Shop
Beige High Heels - Portia (Bought during sale on 99 LABELS for 500 Rs.)
On my nails - Lakme Fast & Fabulous (Shade - 17)
On my lips - Coco Rouge by Chanel (Shade -39)

Have you ever thought of rocking floral prints trend to your office? Well this Dorothy Dress (BUY HERE!) from dressshop.in. is an worthy investment. Not only can you style it as a jacket (SEEN HERE!!) but also as a formal shirt. The print is not overwhelming and it adheres to all the corporate dress code set in Indian companies.

I styled the floral shirt dress with beige skirt I picked up from Wills Lifestyle. I kept the styling simple with beige bag and skirt. I prefer wearing pleasant colors to office. I did add a bit of color via my coral nail paint. I completed the look with a pearl ring and simple stud earrings.

I got few emails asking me about how to dress to work. I have made few points to remember while creating your workplace wardrobe.

1. A white shirt: Worn with smart black trousers and a simple pearl necklace it is goes smart casual. When paired with a black pantsuit it means strictly business.

2. Black pants : You can never have too many of these. Creative types can branch out into longer cropped styles. Also invest in other colors like grey and beige.

3. Low-heeled pumps : Closed-toe styles can go anywhere. While you may be limited to dark colors to match your suits, you can experiment with materials and textures for interest: suede, exotic skins, polished leather. Not everyone is comfortable in high heels plus I prefer to avoid the "clanking" noise caused by high heels while walking in office.

4. Structured handbag. A smooth, black or brown handbag with a structured frame gives you a pulled-together, tailored look. You can always tie a pretty scarf on the handle or attach some charms for a personal touch.

5. Slim belts : Not only will these help in pulling a well tailored look but also add the little pop color required in formal outfits. Go for colors like electric blue, pastel green. Ensure to only style it with a white shirt and black pants.

6. Well fitted skirts : Beige, black grey are the basic neutral colors. You can always style it pleasant color shirts. Grey and baby pink is a lovely color combination.

7. Well fitted black blazer : A blazer can add the required sophistication and business look to any outfit. A black blazer is a must.

8. Pearl accessories : Loud, colorful accessories never seen pleasantly during office meetings. Best alternative is pearl earrings. You can also try simple charmed necklaces, bracelets and rings.

Apart from this you can always wear a dress( ensure the prints aren't loud) and a blazer to give it a business look. What do you think of the styling? I shall wait for all your comments.

P.S. Check out my previous post how I style the same floral dress as a jacket. (CLICK HERE!!!)

Loads of love,

Floral Dress - 3 ways (Part I)

Hello Everyone!

It's time for Wardrobe Wednesday. Its total spring fashion no-brainer; the always versatile floral dress must be celebrated accordingly. This week I shall show you three ways to style the floral dress. One way of styling a floral dress is using it as a jacket.

I am wearing..

Floral Dress (as a jacket) - Courtesy Dressshop.in (BUY HERE!!)
White Jeans - Maxx Retail Outlet (Bought during 50% sale for 700 Rs)
White Tee - Thrifted.
Bag - Birthday Gift.
Accessories (Sunglasses, Chain, Ring and Earrings)- Stilettos Diary Shop
On my nails - Lakme Fast & Fabulous (Shade - 17)
On my lips - Coco Rouge by Chanel (Shade -39)

Whenever summer rolls around, I immediately reach for the flounciest, most colorful floral dress I can find and I found this Dorothy Dress (BUY HERE!) at dressshop.in.

Firstly I have to mention how good the fit of the dress is and their delivery service is just excellent. You get to own your dress in a matter of 3-4 days after ordering the dress. The customer service is very friendly, any queries regarding size, material they help you out immediately. Apart from that they have a door step pick up service (free return) if the outfit doesn't fit you well. Dressshop.in is a worthy website to shop for amazing dresses.

Having said that, this week you guys will be loaded with posts. One way of styling the floral dress is like a jacket on an all-white look. Sheer white looks are a current rage right now but something about all sheer white doesn't appeal to me. Therefore I added a floral jacket to break the sheer white outfit. I paired it few accessories as the print of the dress is quite over whelming and not many accessories go with it. A simple earring, statement chain that blends with the outfit, pearl ring and of course oversized sunglasses to complete the look.

Come back this Saturday to check out how to go from DAY TO NIGHT using this same Floral dress from dressshop.in (BUY HERE!!)

What do you think of the styling? I shall wait for all your comments.

Loads of love,

The Leopard and the Brooch.

Hello Everyone!

This week's look is totally inspired by the insect brooch I made.

I am wearing..

White shirt - Priceless (thrifted for 299Rs during 80% off)
Leopard Mullet skirt - Splash Collections ( Got it during buy two and get one free offer sale. I paid about 1000 Rs)
Insect Brooch - Made by me (CLICK HERE TO CHECK DIY POST)
Bracelet and Ring - Stilettos Diary Shop.
Black sky high heels - Thrifted from Brigade road. Cost me about 1200 Rs.
On my Lips - Coco Rouge By Chanel (New love!!)
On my Nails - Maybelline Colorama (Laranja Citrico)

Recently I did a post about Classic Wardrobe (CLICK HERE TO READ!). After the post I am hell bent on achieving an eternal timeless wardrobe that will take me through all seasons.

So I have decided to invest in lots of skirts. I was never a jeans person. I prefer skirts and dresses. Little did I know I already had loads of timeless pieces in my wardrobe! A white shirt is such a lifesaver. This entire post idea clicked to my mind in just 2 minutes! (No jokes). I saw the ring and thought it makes such a cool brooch. I made the brooch. (CLICK HERE TO READ HOW!)

I styled it with the white shirt. I dint find a perfect skirt to compliment the brooch and white shirt (Searching clothes in my wardrobe is equal to mission impossible) yet I managed to find this leopard mullet skirt. Added arty gold bracelet, moustache ring and sky high heels to complete the look. Leopard print never goes out of style. It again is a versatile piece in your wardrobe and a must have according to me.

I never thought leopard print; white, gold and orange nail paints will make an amazing combination. I am pleasantly surprised by the result. What do you think?? I shall wait for all your comments. :)

Shopping tip: Next time you gals go shopping remember to stock up on essential items and of course remember if a garment doesn't fit you well, please don't buy it. Alterations never work out (it can ruin the shape of the outfit) unless you know an excellent tailor who can alter garments.

Loads of love,

DIY - Brooch and Sneak Peek of Wardrobe Wednesday.

Hello Everyone!

Finally I managed to put up a DIY Post. How to make a re-sizable ring into a fashionable brooch.

Items Required :

Animal/ Insect design re-sizable ring.
A big safety pin.
Glue Gun
Gold color paint.

1. Expand the rim of the re- sizable ring and make it flat. Flat enough to hoard the safety pin.(As shown in the photo above).

2. Using a glue gun stick the safety pin to the ring (there are chances the pin can fall off). Therefore, I welded the safety pin to the ring. You can also do the same. Any local welding shop will do it for 10Rs.

3. Paint the edges of the ring and the pin. Your brooch is ready to use:).

Hope you liked the idea. I dint find a beetle but I liked this weird looking insect. It went perfectly with the outfit I am posting this week. How's the sneak peek of this week's post??

Let me introduce Muralidhara Nidwannaya. He is the new fashion photographer of Stilettos Diary. He is an amateur photographer who is very passionate about photography. Do visit his Facebook page - ChromaSutra to check out few of his masterpieces.
